We are pleased to welcome Brock Hurston to the leadership team at Hisway Painting. He has been a huge asset in helping to not only streamline our business processes, but to also build unity and company culture at Hisway Painting.
One of the ways we live out our mission to serve, impact, and transform in the Nashville area is through advocacy and in building relationships with the international community. We are thankful for Brock’s experience and perspective in helping us to facilitate understanding, advancement, and better relationships with our employees and the community around us.
We are excited to welcome Brock Hurston to the leadership team at Hisway Painting. We have known Brock for years through his friendship with our son Joseph, and have always been impressed with his intelligence, business insight, and perspective.
Brock graduated from the University of Mississippi with an accounting degree in 2013 before working with our company for a summer to learn about the painting business. He got to know Caleb, one of our lead painters, who made a great impression on him and who he enjoys working with today. Brock likes playing tennis and studying zoology in his spare time, and was recently married to his wife Ashli, a medical resident at Vanderbilt studying Dermatology.
Brock served in the Peace Corps in 2017 for two and a half years as a Community Economic Development Advisor in Paraguay. He lived in a small rural community and taught English, financial literacy and life skills in schools and youth groups. He became fluent in Spanish and developed a great love for the Paraguayan people, who welcomed him with open arms and made sure he was cared for and engaged in the community. He said it was the best experience of his life, and he walked away with a greater sense of the similarities and shared values among people across all cultures and backgrounds. He came back home with a passion for immigrants in the United States and a desire to help them develop their language skills and to pass along the same sense of belonging and community that was given to him in South America. He has enjoyed building relationships with the painting crew at Hisway Painting, many from Central and South America, and has been impressed with their stories, their resilience, and their work ethic.
Brock is very helpful on the financial end of the business at Hisway Painting, but is also a gifted communicator. One of the main roles Brock excels in is facilitating company culture and making sure everyone is heard and represented – from employees, to management, to customers. He enjoys the relational aspect of the work and ensuring that the family-oriented values and integrity of the company is carried out across the board. His language skills help to create stronger connections with our employees and to help us better understand their perspective, and he is doing a wonderful job building a greater level of unity and cohesiveness at Hisway Painting.
You will probably see Brock as he stops by home sites to check in with our painting crew and to ensure your satisfaction on the job. He is a good listener and appreciates honest feedback, and wants to make sure that you receive the best possible service.
